According to legend, a chef at the airport created the drink to warm up a popular with travelers and locals alike, and it wasn't long before Irish coffee was being served at bars and restaurants all over






One fun fact about Irish coffee is that it was actually invented by a chef, not a bartender. This is unusual, as most cocktails are created by bartenders.

Here's how to make a classic Irish coffee:


Ingredients:

1.5 ounces Irish whiskey

1 teaspoon brown sugar

6 ounces hot coffee

1 tablespoon heavy cream, whipped to soft peaks


Instructions:

Fill a heat-resistant glass with hot water to preheat it.

In a separate mug, combine the Irish whiskey and brown sugar.

Pour the hot water out of the glass and add the hot coffee to the glass.

Stir the whiskey and sugar mixture into the hot coffee.

Hold a spoon over the top of the glass and pour the whipped cream over the spoon so that it floats on top of the coffee.
